The 2009 VUE Hybrid is a 4-door, 5-passenger sport-utility, available in two trims, the FWD 4-Cylinder and the FWD 6-Cylinder. Upon introduction, the FWD 4-Cylinder is equipped with a standard 2.4-liter, I4, 172-horsepower, hybrid engine that achieves 25-mpg in the city and 32-mpg on the highway. A 4-speed automatic transmission with overdrive is standard. The FWD 6-Cylinder is equipped with a standard 3.6-liter, V6, 262-horsepower, hybrid engine. A variable speed automatic transmission with overdrive is standard. The 2009 VUE Hybrid is a carryover from 2008.

The Ford Escape Hybrid Limited FWD last had a manufacturer update on 01/09/2009. Ford's small crossover Escape enters 2009 again available in several trims: XLS, XLT, XLT V6, Limited, and Hybrid. All trims are available in either front-wheel or all-wheel drive configurations. The base engine gets upgraded to a 2.5L I-4, while the 3.0L V6 engine returns, boasting 200 horsepower and 193 lb-ft of torque. The Hybrid features a "full" hybrid 2.5L I-4 engine, which can run fully on electricity up to 25 mph for fuel efficient city driving. Available features on the Escape include a voice activation SYNC system, Sirius satellite radio, full leather seating, a Navigation system, and a power glass moonroof. The Ford Escape Hybrid Limited FWD saw minor changes in 2008, and is expected to be redesigned in 2012.
